It is in our name, and it is the reason this site exists in the shape it does. We do not accept that finding a life partner should take the investment of large sums of money.
Look at how this market normally works. Building a profile is free. Being shown matches is free. Then the moment you want to say something to one of those matches, you meet a price set for people with room in the month for it. The effect is that families without that room are left outside a marketplace they can see perfectly well — not because they are less serious about a marriage, and not because they would not make somebody an excellent match, but because of what is in the account that month. We find that unfair. We also think it quietly decides who is ever introduced to whom, which is a strange amount of power for a subscription fee to hold.
So we price a membership at a small fraction of the usual, and we give every new account 14 days of full membership free — the real thing, messages included — so that you can find out whether this site is any use to you before anybody asks you for money. And whether or not you ever pay, the looking stays free: search, profiles, matches and your inbox do not close.
None of which changes the other half of what we are for. Your photographs and your phone number are yours, released one member at a time, on your say-so, and taken back whenever you want. A cheaper site is no good to anybody if it is careless with them.
